The ATLAS project began as a happy accident, as many things often do. One night in early 2016, I was watching one of Suvi’s brilliant Nashville videos when I heard, for the first time, the song “Sun” by Sleeping At Last. I quickly discovered that the song was only one in an ambitious multi-album series full of beautiful songs about life, love, and the mysteries of our expansive universe. Around that time, I had also just downloaded a bundle of new starry backgrounds that I was itching to use. After making a new Rayna/Deacon wallpaper using lyrics from “Sun,” I decided to continue making wallpapers for each of the songs on the ATLAS: SPACE album. My main motivation was to make more wallpapers for fandoms that were being neglected, as I had found myself returning to the same TV series and couples over and over again. It worked out so well that I then committed myself to finishing out the rest of the ATLAS: YEAR ONE albums. As promised to myself, none of these desktop wallpapers feature the same characters or relationships twice.

The ATLAS: LAND Series
The Project: A multi-fandom collection of desktop wallpapers inspired by the gorgeous lyrics of the place-themed songs on Sleeping At Last’s concept album Atlas: Land. While the SPACE series focused on romantic pairings, this series is more about the importance of family relationships. I also wanted to feature series where the concept of location and home plays a large role.

The Project: A multi-fandom collection of desktop wallpapers inspired by the gorgeous lyrics of the songs on the first two albums Sleeping At Last’s Atlas project: Darkness & Light. Instead of focusing on any one type of relationship, these wallpapers seek to convey the contrast between the darkest and lightest parts within us.

The ATLAS: OCEANS Series
The Project: A multi-fandom collection of desktop wallpapers inspired by the instrumental songs on the last album, Sleeping At Last’s Atlas: Oceans. These highlight TV shows or films that take place on or near each body of water, particularly if the ocean becomes an important plot point or symbol. I’ve omitted the Southern Ocean for obvious reasons.
