WALLPAPER: In the Darkest Rooms (The Killing)

I’ve wanted to make this The Killing wallpaper for a long time. Possibly since I finished season 2 of the series. I’ve always admired and coveted this globe lamp, and from the moment I saw that Rosie had one in her bedroom, I felt a certain kinship towards her. (All the pink and butterflies, however, I’ve never been crazy about. Personally I think they laid it on a little thick there.) I also thought the film she made for her family was beautiful, and I’m so glad they finally got to watch it together at the end of her story, as a way to say goodbye. Like my latest wallpaper for House of Cards, this wasn’t originally meant to be part of the ATLAS series, but I found a song (“The Projectionist”) that worked well, and that was good motivation for me to finally finish this. You can now see the completed ATLAS: DARKNESS/LIGHT series here on the Special Projects page.

Next: The Affair, Life Unexpected

WALLPAPER: More Than What I’ve Become (Supernatural)

My wallpaper for the song “Heirloom” was originally supposed to include Dan/Nathan/Lucas from One Tree Hill, but since I’d already made a OTH wallpaper for the same series, I decided to go in another wrong direction. More Supernatural wallpapers! I actually really like how this one turned out. I’ve always wanted to do something with this Impala photoshoot. (Don’t worry, I have something else planned for our beloved Scott family.)

Speaking of One Tree Hill, I recently redid that Lucas/Peyton wallpaper yet again. This is the last time, I swear. It’s actually kind of fitting these two ended up in the same post, because it gives us Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton together, as well as the guy who set them up in the first place!

Next: I really want to finally finish this ATLAS series, so The Killing, The Affair, and Life Unexpected are definitely next in line, and likely in that order. Everything else will have to wait. The new one for The Killing is almost done, and it’s the final piece of the “Light” album puzzle, so look for that very soon.

WALLPAPER: Like Fireworks (House of Cards)

I was originally going to use these lyrics from “In the Embers” for Walter White (Breaking Bad), but I finally got to watch s4 of House of Cards this past week, and of course found myself itching to make a new Remy & Jackie wallpaper immediately. (Let’s face it, the first one I made was terrible.) I looked through the remaining songs in the Atlas series and found that this one actually fits them way better than it does Walter. When I first fell in love with the two of them as a couple, I thought for sure they were goners. I mean, people get murdered and torn down regularly on this show. It’s kind of funny then to consider that one of my ships finally got to ride off into the sunset, and it was on House of Cards. Although I’m not completely convinced yet that if the Underwood’s scare tactics don’t work, they won’t still try to get revenge on everyone who went on record against them in the article. But we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Anyway, I love them. They deserve to live forever and be happy together and oh, I don’t know, maybe move abroad to a nation where a pair of psychopaths hasn’t taken executive office? Remy speaks French so why not start with a list of francophone countries? #justsaying

My only issue is I wanted this wallpaper to be dark, but the song is on the “Light” album. So that’s why I made an alternate version specifically for the series. I keep toning down the purple of the darker version above but it still looks very purple on this computer? Oh well.

Next: Nashville, Baron + Toluca, Girl Meets World, The Killing, Supernatural. Again, no particular order there, although the first two are near completion.

WALLPAPER: Brighter than the Sun (Life Unexpected)

Maybe it’s a little surprising I never made a real Life Unexpected wallpaper before (the only previous one was made as a companion to my woefully unfinished AU fanfic “House of Light”), but maybe it’s not. At the time I think there was a distinct lack of decent images. Anyway, I’m always glad to return to shows that were short-lived but deserving of way more attention than they received. This is one of them. It uses the lyrics to the song “Light” from the (you guessed it!) Atlas: Light album. I have another LUX wallpaper planned for the ATLAS: OCEANS series. I’m sure it will be a while before I get to that.

Next: One Tree Hill or Bates Motel, I imagine. I’m also in the process of making a number of changes around the blog and archive. I’ll make a post soon detailing all of them.

WALLPAPER: These Little Words (Bunheads)

Desktop wallpaper for the TV series Bunheads featuring the main cast

I’ve wanted to make a Bunheads wallpaper since the show first started, but could never quite figure out what I wanted it to look like. So once again, I’m thankful for inspiration from the ATLAS series. This one uses lyrics from the song “You Are Enough.” I miss this show terribly every once in a while. It’s near the top of my list of shows that were cancelled far before its time, and more than deserve a second chance. As excited as I am for the Gilmore Girls revival, I do think that series was played out during its first run. The only appeal now is seeing all the characters reuniting in the future. Bunheads, on the other hand, had so many more stories to tell. Thankfully, even though the ending was rather abrupt, I do think they left us on a fairly satisfying note…with a quirky group dance routine, what else?

Next: Life Unexpected, probably. Maybe Bates Motel.
